The City of Batavia, Illinois is a scenic and lively
community of 25,000 residents located along the Fox
River, 35 miles west of Chicago. Batavia boasts great
dining, beautiful parks, the community-built Riverwalk,
Depot Museum, a theater company, art studios, and a
variety of year-round cultural activities.
Founded in 1833, it is the oldest city in Kane County.
Batavia is known as the "City of Energy" for two
reasons. It served as the home to five windmill
factories during its early years, and has proudly served
as the home of Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab)
since it was established in 1967. |
