Great appreciation is extended to all the 2007 volunteers who helped make our 3rd annual festival such a success. The Volunteer Committee is coordinating all volunteer needs for the 2008 Art In Your Eye Festival. Community members and organizations are encouraged to get involved.

Volunteers are needed to assist August 8, 9 & 10, 2008
in the following areas:
Welcome-Info Tent - We are looking for individuals to staff our two welcome and information tents at the festival.  This is a fun activity for groups of 2-3 people at a time.  Volunteers are needed to answer basic questions about the festival as well as answer general questions about our downtown.  
Who: Anyone
    When: Shifts are 3 hours each
Outdoor Fine Art Show - We are looking for individuals to provide support to the visiting artists. Help distribute water and lunches, serve as booth sitters as the artists need a break, and visit the different booths to provide friendly welcomes & support throughout the two-day show.

When: Shifts are 3 hours each
Children's Art Activities -  We need your help – this activity requires the most help throughout the festival.  We are looking for 6-8 volunteers for each shift of the two-day event.  This is a great activity to do in groups.  We need people to interact and monitor the children during the festival
Who: This activity is great for clubs or student groups – families and friends – anyone who is interested in getting involved
What: Monitor and manage the children’s art tent during your shift
When: Shifts will be offered every 3 hours starting at 9:30am till 5:30pm on Saturday and from 10:30am till 5:30pm on Sunday
Student Artists Legacy Project Area - This is a new area this year and will include outdoor and possibly indoor areas for high school & college studen art displays. Assistance will be needed for set-up on Friday night and watch the area throughout the festival, and tear-down on Sunday.

Bike Corral - We need 2 persons per shift to watch the free bike parking area at the festival. Check-in and check-out the bikes with the special "valet" tickets provided. Watch over the bikes.

Logistics - set-up, support during festival, parking, clean-up - 
Friday, August 8th Setup & Saturday, August 9th - We are looking for help on Friday before the kick off to the Art In Your Eye Festival.  We will need help setting up the different areas of the festival including the information tables, Children’s Art area, vendor booths, the City Hall exhibits, etc
Who: Anyone able to move items over 25lbs – Great activity for adults and teen
agers – come and make this a fun family event to help out our downtown!
What: Set up for the actual Art Festival
When: Friday
, August 8th, morning and afternoon shifts; Saturday, August 9th, early morning shift for set-up

Friday, August 8th & Saturday, August 9th, Logistics Support - provides assistance during the festival to serve as runners to different areas of the festival, assist with "problem-solving" and support, monitor needs and functions. Work with coordinators and other support staff.
Who: A few "good people" that can respond quickly and lend a hand where needed. What: Logistics support  When: 3-hour shifts throughout two-day festival  
Sunday, August 10th, Tear-down & Clean-up - We are looking for help on Sunday starting at 3:30 PM at the end of the festival.  What goes up, must come down. Everything must be cleared from the riverwalk and taken to storage in City Hall or to vehicles. We also need people to provide assistance to the outdoor show artists as they pack up their booths.
Who: Anyone able to move items over 25lbs – Great activity for adults and
teenagers – come and make this a fun family event to help out our downtown!

Tear-down and clean-up of festival
When: Friday Night – August 8th 2008 downtown at the Batavia Riverwalk
 
Plus pre-festival Activities:
Festival Marketing -  We are always looking for new members for our Art In Your Eye marketing team.  This opportunity is one that encourages new ideas, planning, and promotional assistance leading up to the Festival. 
Who: Anyone looking to get involved in the pre-planning of the Art Festival (residents, Batavia employees, marketing individuals) and in distribution of marketing materials, posters, etc.
What: Marketing Committee
When: Meetings occur once a month downtown at various locations – times are adjusted according to the group’s schedules
Friday Night Arts Walk July 18 - We are looking for help the night of our pre-festival Arts Walk at various locations downtown. Help with set-up as needed, and serve as a volunteer during the walk to help answer questions for the artists and visitors. 
Who: anyone who loves downtown Batavia and anyone interested in meeting local artists and community members
